History

White Rock State School was established in 1988 to cater for the rapidly expanding population of Cairns.   It is situated in the developing southern fringe of Cairns and services the urban residential areas of Forest Gardens, Mt Sheridan and White Rock itself.

For the first ten years the school experienced rapid growth with the building program and resources barely keeping up.  However due to the establishment of another State College nearby in 1998, the growth has steadied.

The current enrolment is 380 and numbers are stable.

The school is set in large attractive grounds with an environmental area and well established shade trees.  The teaching facilities consist of 5 open plan designed Teaching Blocks of 4 classrooms, an on-site Prep Year Unit and a recently upgraded Library Resource Centre.   All teaching blocks are air conditioned.
